The best non-alcoholic drinks for your 4th of July party (and beyond)
Read on for my favorite zero-proof drinks to throw in the cooler tomorrow and level up your red, white and booze-free party!
Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, taking a break from drinking for Dry July, or just want to mix it up a little, exciting alcohol-free drinks are always a welcome addition to any party. If you’re celebrating 4th of July tomorrow and want to grab a few fun bevvies for the party, here’s a list of some of my fun summer favorites. Note that while I usually recommend small independent brands in my posts, this list is mostly focused on larger brands that should be available at major retailers nationwide (grocery stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts, Target, Total Wine…1) so you don’t have to worry about chasing them down. I’ve sorted them into two categories: Beer-style and cocktail-style drinks. Cheers, and stay hydrated!
Non-alcoholic beer-style drinks
Best Day Brewing Electro-Lime
Hands down one of my favorite summer beers. Think a light beer like a Corona with a generous squeeze of lime. Super refreshing, super crushable.
Budweiser Zero
Don’t judge! It’s the 4th of July so I can’t not list Budweiser, okay? The non-alc version is pretty light, almost more like a hop seltzer, which I actually quite like for a hot summer day kinda situation!
Corona Cero
Another classic beer that’s perfect for the summer, and unlike the Budweiser this one is almost identical to it’s full-proof version - it’s actually one of my favorite non-alc beers from a major brand. Pop in a lime wedge and you’re good to go!
Athletic Brewing Ripe Pursuit
Athletic’s take on the classic German “Radler” (shandy) is a juicy and lemony affair with only a hint of beer. It’s like if a beer and lemonade had a secret love child and no one is supposed to know that the beer is the dad but you can kinda tell. If you know what I’m saying.
Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher
Hop water is the La Croix of beers. It’s basically a seltzer with a super faint hint of something beer-like, but absolutely suitable for the non-beer drinkers, too.
Non-alcoholic cocktail style drinks
Kin Euphorics Bloom
This is a very subtle drink. It always reminds me of a sparkling wine with some subtle floral and herbal notes. Out of the plethora of non-alcoholic cocktails out there, Kin Bloom is one I find myself coming back to as a little treat. Serve chilled in a champagne flute or over ice!
Aplos Ume Spritz
A super delicious and delicately flavored spritz with subtle botanical notes and lion's mane for a calming and mood-boosting effect. I prefer to serve it over ice in a wine glass (think aperol spritz), but it’s great straight from the can, too.
Ghia Le Spritz Ginger
If you like bold, bitter and tart flavors, Ghia is the way to go! I love all their Le Spritz flavors, but the slightly spicy Ginger is probably my favorite. Serve over ice and garnish with an orange slice for a little apero moment!
Pentire Margarita
It’s summer, so obviously we need a marg! I love the Pentire Margarita for its very subtle sweetness and hint of sea salt and herbal notes, which makes it a super interesting and moreish drink.
Recess Mood Strawberry Rose
Obsessed is an understatement. I love the whole Recess Mood range, but the delicate strawberry rose flavor is my favorite. Its only lightly sweetened and somewhere on the edge between a soda and Spindrift. Plus the magnesium and adaptogens are supposed to help you chill out.
This is just a small selection of some of my favorite non-alcoholic drink for your 4th of July party, summer bbq, beach party, park hangs, or other fun gatherings this summer. Let me know in the comments if you have any other suggestions!
ANTI HANGOVER DRINKING CLUB is a newsletter & blog by Sam Bail, the founder of Third Place Bar. I host regular alcohol-free social events in NYC and share my favorite zero-proof recommendations with you.
Some of the listed stores might not be my preferred shopping destination, but I’m listing them for completeness.
Hi Sam! Love the emails! Thank you.
